O Brasil e o BRICS expandido: Relações comerciais recentes e recomendações

The original BRICS, composed of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, plays a central role in international geopolitics and aims to strengthen the representation of emerging economies. Since its creation, the bloc has promoted initiatives aimed at reducing the West's hegemony in global finance, such as the establishment of the New Development Bank (NDB). The expansion of BRICS in 2023, including five new members (Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Ethiopia, the United Arab Emirates, and Iran), reinforces the group's global economic relevance, now representing 36% of the world's gross domestic product (GDP). Data has shown that intra-BRICS trade, led by China, grew significantly between 2000 and 2023, while Brazil stands out as a major exporter of commodities. This article examines the evolution of trade relations between Brazil and BRICS countries, as well as with the new members, highlighting the strategic importance of economic and commercial partnerships.
