Official controls on internet sales of food in EU Member States : overview report

This overview report describes how controls on food sold over the Internet have been integrated in Member State's official control systems. All Member States visited recognised the necessity to enhance their controls related to the online sales of food and took steps to adapt their traditional inspection and sampling activities to ensure that food supplied online is safe and subject to an adequate level of official control. The report found different approaches to do so in the Member States visited as existing competent authority structures and systems as well as priorities given to this topic, varied. Good practices and problems encountered in Member States during this type of official control are also described in the report.
