Onsager-Casimir reciprocity relations for open gaseous systems at arbitrary rarefaction III. Theory and its application for gaseous mixtures
The statistical approach to the nonequilibrium thermodynamics based on fundamental properties of the Boltzmann equation and boundary condition for the distribution function is generalized for mixtures of nonreactive gases. As an application of the approach several problems of gaseous mixture flows are considered. The problems are as follows: evaporation and condensation of the mixture between two parallel plates, two-dimensional mixture flow through a capillary, mixture flow past a particle. The explicit expressions of the thermodynamic fluxes and kinetic coefficients satisfying the Onsager-Casimir reciprocity relations are derived. The couplings between cross effects arising in the mixture flows are obtained from these relations.
