Optical properties of 2D-systems of small particles on a substrate
The statistical theory for surface susceptibilities of 2D-systems of small particles on a substrate, developed previously, is applied to the cases of spheroids and truncated spheres with symmetry axes normal to the substrate. The resulting expressions for these susceptibilities depend on the average surface polarizability density and on two inverse lengths, for which explicit expressions are given. A comparison is made with the description by Maxwell Garnett.
