Output, Trade and Development : A Comparative Advantage Perspective

The paper examines the causal relationship between economic performance, trade and development variables, with special reference to comparative advantage as a trade variable. We develop a comparative advantage factor to assess the influence of comparative advantage, the change in comparative advantage, and the influence of it on output for the set of economies considered. The results emphasize the need for investments in technology by developing economies like India, and the need to invest in financial development through technology, in order to have more comprehensive investment policies
