Outsourcing and vertical integration: Research propositions from an organizational perspective

The research provides a comprehensive review of research on outsourcing from a variety of research domains and traditions. The received perspective on explaining outsourcing of transaction cost economics is supplemented fi rst with the resource-based view of the fi rm and second with the organizational perspective. The latter is a new approach which holds that organization-wide factors affect outsourcing behaviors and success. Propositions that combine all three perspectives are offered.
