Possible Areas of Expansion of Cashless Payments and Resource Base of the Russian Banking System

The paper provides an analysis of the current state of the financial system and the banking sector in Russia, the study of possible scenarios of their development from the perspective of the expansion of cashless payments, as well as assessment of trends in the development of the National Payment System of the Russian Federation and the expected structural changes in the financial sector and the overall economy in the long run. The paper contains a scenario calculations prospects of the financial sector until 2020 in a formal long-term socio-economic development of the Russian Federation and on this basis estimates of the main parameters of the most likely options to expand cashless payments.
