Preliminary Evidence on the Structure and Determinants of Global Corporate Reputations
Drawing on the Fortune Global Reputation Survey in 1997, we re-examine some of the key findings of earlier researchers who have used the domestic Fortune Reputation Surveys to test the universality of these findings. We find that the global results are very similar to the domestic results in terms of (a) the correlations and factor loadings of reputational attributes, (b) the determinants of reputation. We also explore industry and country effects and find weak evidence that reputations are positively correlated with future corporate financial performance.
