RAISING AWARENESS WITH RESPECT TO OTHERS, IN SCHOOL: WHICH STUDENT SKILLS SHOULD BE DEVELOPED? (English version)
Awareness with respect to others is strictly related to the type of interpersonal relations which persons maintain within a given culture. However, this awareness can also show certain deficiencies in modern societies (Augé, 1994). In this case, the school may have a role to play with respect to rehabilitating this awareness, that is, enhancing the attention given to others. First and foremost, group methods appear quite well suited to answer these expectations. There really are reasons for the development of student skills other than classical social abilities (knowing how to listen to their work partners, being able to work together with them, etc.). From this point of view, the social/emotional track appears to be quite promising, from a social-constructivist perspective.
