Reestimating the Ethiopian population by age and geographical distribution, 1935 - 1985

Asmerom Kidane

The first census ever to be held in Ethiopia was conducted on May 9, 1984. The paper tries to recalculate the population for each of the last 50 years, taking the 1984 census as a base. The age distribution of the population and various socioeconomic and other indicators for selected periods are also reestimated. The process is conducted for the whole country and for each administrative region. (DÜI-Ott)
