Relationship Types on the Romanian Vegetable Chain

The paper studies the role of business relationships in the Romanian vegetable supply chain. In this respect, the paper draws on Williamsons’ governance structure of non formal relationship and formal relationship existing between farmers and buyers in order to see what type of contractual relationship is prevalent in the vegetable supply chain. The analysis reveals that informal contractual relationships are prevalent on the market while in many cases the contractual enforcement is at stake. The paper employs a qualitative analysis based on structured questionnaires in order to assess the type of contractual relationship between parts.
