Research Contribution of Indian Universities : A Web of Science Database Based Study of Universities in Haryana

Higher education is the most important constituent of development of any society. Improvement in the quality of teaching and learning requires careful attention and evaluation to foresee prospective outcomes. The analysis of standard of excellence measured in terms of the number of articles published in Web of Science database, their citations and H-index indicates that Maharshi Dayanand University is best in Haryana. It was noted that the number of research publications maintained a high and positive correlation with the number of Ph.D. degrees awarded, number of sponsored research projects, number of regular teachers and capital expenditure on academic activities. More positively, we find that Maharshi Dayanand University's performance is better than the comparator universities of Haryana in terms of all indicators used in the study
