Rethinking the Role of Government: A Framework for Coping with Globalization

This paper examines what the Government of Egypt should do, and how best to do it, to respond to a changing world. It introduces a three-component strategy as a framework for coping with the recent trend to globalization. It emphasizes that the government must play a strong role to respond to thenew global economic systems and to initiate the new institutional mechanisms that systems require.
