Revision of EU ecolabel and EU green public procurement criteria for furniture products : preliminary report

The main environmental impacts of furniture products are reviewed from a life cycle assessment perspective, considering relevant legal, technical and policy frameworks. Title Preliminary Report for the revision of EU Ecolabel and EU GPP criteria for furniture products. The furniture sector is dominated by small to medium enterprises. The dominant life cycle impacts of furniture are associated with the raw materials required for their production and the chemicals used during processing. The main materials used are wood, plastic, metal, glass and, for upholstered furniture, upholstery materials such as leather, textiles and polyurethane foam. This report forms the basis for proposals for EU Ecolabel and EU GPP criteria for furniture products.
