Santé, éducation et retraite, un modèle stylisé
This paper analyzes how long run productivity gains can be used by agents to change their optimal allocation between consumption, health services, and non-market activities during their life cycle. We develop a stylized model accounting for the endogenous number of years in school, retirement and lifespan. We then compare two allocations : the first one is the solution of the planner problem who smoothes intertemporally the agents consumption, whereas the second is the result of an interpersonnal insurance system based on intergenerational transfers. Calibrations on US and French data allow to forecast firstly the long run dynamics of the lifespan and its sharing between education, work and retirement and secondly, the tax rates in the case of an economy with intergenerational transfers.
