Scope of Additive Manufacturing in Wind Energy Systems

AM is an industry that rapidly grows in which current advancements have enlarge its application beyond fast prototyping. AM involves operation most widely applicable to polymers, metals, composites, and ceramics through multiple material types. At present and R&D levels for the wind industry sector, AM innovations have the ability to have a substantial effect on the cost of prototyping and production of tools and components for wind energy. Due to the continuing speed of AM technological developments, this research describes various application areas for the use of AM for commercially viable wind components, Direct wind blade printing is a newly raised realm in the globe due to its complicated form and profile, and this study identifies many application areas for the use of AM for commercially feasible wind components. Blade moulds, nacelle covers, higher efficiency HX, micro cooling channel were reviewed in greater detail in this study to better understand their capacity and costs. In the future, AM technologies can make it possible to manufacture turbine components on-site, with site-optimized part that are tailored to a particular area's wind and grid resources. Eventual influencing of a paradigm changes to print a range of components on the wind turbine will take place with emergent technology such as Macro level AM, high speed Additive Production and Metal AM machines intended for future reform
