Scoping the socio-economic performance of the EU proximity economy : monitoring framework

This document complements the study; Scoping the Socio-economic Performance of the EU Proximity Economy. This report presents a framework for evaluating and monitoring the proximity economy, including through the identification of key performance indicators (KPIs). The analysis in this report has been carried out using a combination of data collection methods. The practicality and feasibility of this monitoring framework have been discussed, challenged and verified in an expert workshop. This report is structured as follows way: - Section 2 analyses the potential size and scope of the proximity economy within the EU; - Section 3 provides a framework for monitoring this ecosystem at a local and/or regional level; and - Section 4 draws out they key conclusions from this exercise
