Sec Update : Investment Analysis Tools, Securities Intermediaries, and Consumer Credit Reports

The National Association of Securities Dealers, Inc. (NASD) has adopted a new rule that regulates the use of investment analysis tools by NASD members. The new rule has specific disclosure, access, and filing requirements. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) adopted a new rule that prohibits registered transfer agents from effecting any transfer of any publicly traded security if such security is subject to any restriction or prohibition on transfer to or from a securities intermediary in its capacity as such. This rule permits the beneficial owners of securities to hold their shares in street name. The SEC adopted rule amendments that require many regulated entities that maintain or process consumer credit report information to take reasonable measures to protect against unauthorized access to and use of the information contained therein
