Several problems concerning the development strategy of China's special economic zones

Beginning 1979, China established the four special economic zones (SEZs) of Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Shantou and Xiamen. Some other SEZs were established in 1985. After a brief overview of their nature, strategic goals and strategic development stages, the author evaluates the SEZs' work to date and their future prospects. He believes that the prospects are extremely good for economic co-operation between Shenzhen and Hong Kong. (DÜI-Sen)
