Simulation of a classical detection problem: Detection of a phase-coherent rf pulse train of unknown phase in additive gaussian noise
This paper describes a hybrid computer simulation of a simple signal detection problem. A signal of unknown phase plus white Gaussian noise is detected with a correlation receiver. Measured detection probabilities and false-alarm probabilities for various signal to noise ratio are compared to the theoretical curves for the Bayes optimum receiver. Good results are obtained using a lowcost educational computer, APE II.
