Statistical properties of turbulent dynamical systems
We give an example of the use of stochastic models to describe turbulent systems. This is the so-called transition to spatio-temporal intermittency, whose connection to Directed Percolation has been an open question for a number of years. We discuss the recent finding [1] that an asynchronously updated coupled map lattice seems to be in this universality class although the synchronous version is apparently not [2].
