Status report 2004 : energy end-use efficiency and electricity from biomass, wind and photovoltaics and in the European Union

The implementation of renewable energies into our energy supply and the substantial investments needed to do so, call for an integrated approach to utilise the different available technologies and resources as well as energy savings to minimise demand. No energy source alone can supply the future needs of mankind and even our conventional energy sources face the problem of fluctuating generation capacities. However, we have to keep in mind, that no alternative energy system will be available when we need it in the coming decades, if we do not start to change it now. The aim of this Status Report is to provide relevant, validated and independent information on renewable energy and the efficient end-use of electricity to decision makers and the public.
