Structural Adjustment and Vertical Inequality in Rawalpindi District

Structural adjustment is large scale assistance in the form of finances to the developing countries from the two Breton Wood financial institutes namely World Bank and IMF both the donor agencies are working for the betterment of developing economies like Pakistan. Basic aim of the given study is to find inequality under the structural adjustment program in the Rawalpindi region both at rural and urban level using HIES data 2011-12. Main measures of inequality including GINI-Coefficients, Theil's index, Atkinson index, Coefficient of Variation and quintile share ratio for the measurement of inequality along with socioeconomic variables. It has seen that inequality in urban area is high as compare to rural due to more facilities in the urban areas inequality among individuals as classes came into being so inequality is high.
