Student Participation In and Use of Work-Based Learning.

Drawing largely on surveys of students in eight states, this chapter examines the extent of student participation in school-sponsored work-based learning activities, how these activities differ from the regular jobs students find on their own, and ways in which students report making use of these experiences after they graduate. The findings indicate that the positions students find through school are in diverse fields and provide substantially more learning opportunities than the regular jobs they find on their own.
