Study in support of an ex-post evaluation of the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) between the EU and its Member States and Canada : final report : executive summary
The Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) is a free trade agreement (FTA) between Canada and the EU and its Member States. It aims to reduce trade barriers, enhance economic cooperation, and promote investment and sustainable development. On 21 September 2024, CETA marked the 7th anniversary of its provisional application. The European Commission commissioned this ex-post evaluation of CETA to assess its implementation and impact. The study examines the economic, social, environmental, and human rights effects of the Agreement on both Parties. It also includes an institutional analysis and an evaluation of stakeholder concerns regarding the Agreement. Since CETA has been provisionally applied, only parts of the Agreement are in effect. To date, 17 out of 27 EU Member States (EU MS) have ratified CETA.
