A Study of the Possibility of Integrating the Economic Activity within the Accommodation as an Approach to Solve the Problem of Low Income Housing in Egypt
Over the years, Egypt has supplied different housing programs aiming to solve the low income housing problems. Despite this, the problem remains with all its economic repercussions. That led us to think of solutions that are supposed to deal with both crises; which are the shortage of housing units and the low economic level of many groups. This study aims to investigate the possibility of integrating economic activity with the accommodation. Putting into consideration that the deterioration of the economic conditions of low income groups usually causes them to be unable to retain and maintain their homes appropriately. Also, it may even lead them to fail in paying their installments, adding additional burdens to the country. Generally, housing problem is overlapped by many factors. So the research is adopting the flexibility approach to merge a range of different solutions that are based on the idea of functional flexibility and diversity in housing models in order to achieve the desired goals. These goals include a convenient and comfortable dwelling for its inhabitants in addition to a developmental and vital role which converts the house unit into a small productive cell. On the international level, this approach is on the right path of good utilization of great human potentials that will lead to a progress in the whole society
