Study visits to improve Member State controls on animal welfare during transport : overview report
To improve Member State controls and allow better sharing of experience on animal welfare during transport, the FVO organised a series of study visits in 2013 and 2014. Member States with good controls and implementation of requirements hosted experts from countries with difficulties in implementing animal welfare requirements and from countries with significant trade links. The study visits proved a useful tool to improve control systems, and they brought benefits to their interactions with other Member States. Participants found it a major challenge to make changes to their own official controls and implement the best practices seen. They asked for the Commission's support to help make this happen.
