Subsistence Entrepreneur and Sustainable Development

The entrepreneurship of subsistence markets (subsistence entrepreneurship) has received attention from researchers for its importance in solving poverty problems, especially in developing countries. The effects of climate change in these countries are leading to the need to seek alternative concepts of entrepreneurship, consistent with new demands. This paper presents a bibliographic review of the various definitions of subsistence entrepreneurship, proposing a new concept that integrates many of the previous ideas and adapting it to sustainable development needs and practices. The concept assumes different approaches to entrepreneurship, introducing the objectives of sustainable development and combining them using Simon’s satisfaction theory. Finally, the paper proposes a series of practical orientations and future lines of research
