Supply chain justice

In this chapter, on supply chain justicesupply chain justice, we pose what we believe to be a profoundly important question: ‘Should justice, rather than efficiency, be the dominant logic for the organisation of global supply chains?’ Our concept of supply chain justicesupply chain justice is an attempt to answer this question in the affirmative. We attempt to revitalise sustainable supply chain management (SSCM)Sustainable Supply Chain Management scholarship through re-engaging with the concepts of social and environmental justiceenvironmental justice that were central to the original formulation of the triple bottom lineTriple Bottom Line concept. We present a thought experiment that we hope will help readers and supply chain managers see the need to shift from the efficiency paradigmefficiency paradigm towards the justice paradigmjustice paradigm. Without doing so, the authors fail to see how we will be able to transform supply chains from systems in crisis into drivers of sustainability.
