Sustainable development through public sector participation in developing countries: a case for South African parastatal CEOs
CEOs' of public enterprises have the task of turning around the organisations they lead to make a meaningful contribution towards sustainable development. A personal vision, the philosophy that goes beyond the written mission and vision of the organisation is what makes a difference. This study examines the visions of South African CEOs of parastatals to see how they can influence changes in the organisations in which they are in charge. The challenges these organisations face are also identified to see how they could be minimised through the philosophies of these business leaders.
