Taking off the L-plates: making training more effective
Purpose – Emphasizes the importance of ensuring the right training and the right delivery. Design/methodology/approach – Draws on information gathered from the author's industry knowledge and experience. Findings – Argues that senior managers sometimes fail to understand how training needs to be different to meet the expectations and requirements of the different personalities in the organization. Practical implications – Explains how using flooding or drip-feed techniques will have different outcomes for different personalities and helps managers to identify which is more suitable. Originality/value – Deals with what happens once the training is finished: taking off the L-plates, so to speak.
