Talent management practices: study of university academics in Malaysia shows positive effect of talent management practices on performance
Purpose This paper aims to review the latest management developments across the globe and pinpoint practical implications from cutting-edge research and case studies. Design/methodology/approach This briefing is prepared by an independent writer who adds their own impartial comments and places the articles in context. Findings A study of Malaysian private universities showed how talent management (TM) practices comprising talent recruitment (TRP), training and development (T&DP) and compensation practice (CP) have a significant effect on employee performance. The results also show employee engagement (EE) partially mediates the relationship between T&DP, CP and EP, while EE does not mediate the relationship between TRP and EP in MPUs. Originality/value The briefing saves busy executives, strategists and researchers hours of reading time by selecting only the very best, most pertinent information and presenting it in a condensed and easy-to-digest format.
