The assessment of social well-being in Indonesia and the Philippines with the use of quality-of-life indicators

The article aims at characterizing the living conditions, or the quality of life, of the people living in the two countries and identifying the critical sectors. Critical appraisal of the alternative criteria and measures that are relevant in depicting deprivation in the two countries. Social well-being not a pervasive phenomenon in these countries. Inequity more pronounced in the Philippines. More efficient social and economic infrastructures needed for these countries. (DÜI-Sen)
