This book presents an analysis of a wide range of studies on the issue of national and regional competitiveness. For the first time, we identify leading foreign theoretical schools that form the theory of national and regional competitiveness in the world economy system. We further determine main institutional factors of developed countries' competitiveness in the world economy, and their manifestation is revealed using a case study of the most vulnerable developed countries, namely small nations of Western and Northern Europe.
