The direct and indirect links between trade and growth : A study of APEC members

The authors note that the economic performance of Asia-Pacific countries has been the source of much recent debate. Productivity growth, mobilisation of additional labour, capital and other resources, high domestic rates, of saving, strong inflows of direct investment, technology catch-up, a stable macro-economic environment, outward looking development strategies among other things have been put forth by different authors as important factors for economic growth. The study examines which of these above factors have significantly contributed to the growth of Asia-Pacific economies during the post-war period. (DÜI-Sen)
