The economic role of sheep and goats in Indonesia : a case study of West Java

The authors focus on the role of sheep and goats within small farm systems in West Java with the aim of assessing the current status of small ruminants in Indonesia and their relative economic importance. The major findings of this study are that the involvement of Indonesian rural households in raising small ruminants is large. The contribution of the sheep and goat enterprise in the total farming income for small ruminant keepers in West Java is substantial. (DÜI-Sen)
