The Effectiveness of Research Based Learning Model in Improving Students’ Self Assessment

Self assessment is the key to improve students' motivation to get higher achievement in the class. This study aims to determine the differences of students' self assessment in Investment management class which use the model of Research Based Learning (RBL) and conventional learning. The study method is true experimental which is equipped with a qualitative approach to interpret the results. The population was Accounting Education students who take Investment Management class. Samples of two classes were selected by cluster random sampling. Data obtained by the testing techniques and filling out the questionnaire. The data were analyzed by descriptive analysis and independent t test. Before, the data were analyzed by normality test, homogeneity test, and the similarity of initial competence test. The results revealed that there are differences on students' self assessment in learning Investment management with RBL model and the conventional one. Students with RBL are better in terms of self assessment than students in the conventional class
