The Future of Software as a Business Artefact

Rather than look to migration guides for business, or to barriers to adoption of Open Source Software, perhaps we should look to understand what it is that organisations need from their software, it is not just the feature set of the application, but a combination and compromise of the business benefits and business risks, some of which are not inherent in the software feature set, but are interrelated to the needs and pre-existing conditions of the organisation. This paper looks to investigate these aspects of Software to an organisation and to then investigate if Open Source Software can fulfill these factors
