The Internot? Understanding the Problem of Internet Congestion
This article explores the issues and causes of Internet congestion to provide a better understanding of the congestion problem and to consider potential solutions. Only a few studies have discussed economic causes and potential pricing models for the Internet, and little attention has been given to technological factors as well as the role of the telephone industry. This article examines Internet congestion from a technological, regulatory, and economic perspective and suggests that market forces and technological advances will come together to encourage the creation of more end-to-end networks.
