The Location Decision of Hong Kong Direct Investment within Mainland China : A Dynamic Approach

This paper examines the determinants of Hong Kong direct investment (HKDI) in 30 Chinese regions from 1997 to 2004. By using both random effects model and a system generalized method of moments (GMM) estimator, we find that large market size, good infrastructure and agglomeration effect of FDI have positive effects on HKDI. In addition, there is a strong self-reinforcing effect of HKDI on itself
