A new queueing model, the MM /GE/c/L G-queue with servers (heterogeneous being more general than homogeneous)is defined, proposed as a model for nodes in communication networks and solved efficiently for steady state probabilities and performance. The earlier queueing models, the MMCPP/GE/c queue and the MM CPP/GE/c/L G-queue, now become rather special cases of this proposed more general and more useful queueing model. Also, the MMPP, the popular model for the arrival processes, now becomes a very special case of the more general MM process. The proposed queueing model accommodates geometric as well as non-geometric batch size distributions in both arrivals and services and hence has the potential to emerge as a generalized Markovian node model
