The regional and international implications of the South China Economic Zone

The author points out that the natural formation of cross-border and interregional economic zones in mainland China, especially the South China Economic Zone (SCEZ) which covers Taiwan, Fujian, Guangdong and Hongkong, is a new problem in the study of international relations. He sketches out the structure of the SCEZ, the operation of this zone and the balance of power among mainland China, Taiwan and Hongkong and the impact of Sino-American relations on the SCEZ.
