The Validation of Programming Models : The Philippine Experience
The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate the need and procedure for testing sectoral programming models. The main approach pursued in investigating the consistency of the programming model is to compare the former's estimates of endogenous variables to carefully selected based period parameters. The actual framework used to achieve this objective is an operational, static, deterministic, and highly aggregate programming model of Philippine agriculture. Alternative formulations of the Philippine model were undertaken to detect possible data errors in the consumption, production, and objective function sets of the former.
