Thermodynamical path choice model in steady-state urban commuter traffic
The paper is concerned with the problem of distributing a current of vehicular traffic on a conducting net between a source domain A and a destination domain B. It is investigated how local decision-making influences globally averaged quantities. The effects of a local, Boltzmann-like probability distribution, structural and statistical variations are discussed in the limiting cases of zero and infinite temperature and put in perspective.
