Transplanting the Organizing Seed : Understanding the Political Habitus of Salvadorans in the Metro D.C. Area
This study utilizes in-depth, semi-structured, and open-ended interviews to study Salvadorans in the metro D.C. area. It aims to find the different ways in which Salvadoran actors enact a political habitus. Political habitus is defined as the disposition, thoughts, and actions that inhabit peoples' worldview, and in turn, influences the political choices they make. I find that Salvadoran actors are multi-faceted and create a typology to understand how each actor builds a political habitus that is shaped by different experiences, beliefs, and political attitudes. Moreover, I find that Salvadoran actors are immersed in local and transnational work that is infused with internal and external challenges and impact the overall organizational structure of the area
