TRIPs agreement, agreement on trade-related aspects of intellectual property rights : Volume 3: Geographical indications

This publication, as one in a series addressing different areas of intellectual property rights covered by the TRIPs Agreement, aims at giving economic operators and other interested parties an insight into the implications of the TRIPs provisions for the protection of geographical indications. I am convinced that this publication will serve as a useful tool for economic operators to benefit fully in their day-to-day experience from the increased protection of geographical indications offered by the relevant TRIPs provisions. This will provide an important contribution to guaranteeing a solid legal framework, allowing European industry, relying on geographical indications, to expand both in traditional and new markets.
