Understanding the Gender Question

The article provides an explanation of the concept of Gender and its increasing centrality as a unit of analysis and a determinant of human behavior. It argues that researchers and development planners must be aware that gender relations are relations of power structured by ideologies and values, which are different from place to place, and in a temporal sense. It concludes that the gender model must be utilized in policy formulation if the disparity between men and women in many areas must be reduced
