Universal Healthcare : The Socialization of the U.S. Healthcare System

Now before Congress there are at least two healthcare1 bills, generally referred to as Medicare for All. Basically, these bills would, in various ways, use the structure of the existing Medicare system to provide insurance benefits to the broad class of citizens. It is often stated that bills like Medicare for All, would be a strong step towards Universal Healthcare for the United States.This paper's primary objective is to provide some background information as to the current healthcare system, and some of the major aspects of the proposed system. There are a number of concepts that seem to underlie this topic and some of which are being used interchangeably. As this discussion is developed, it is hoped that greater clarification will result
