Use of Digital Signage in a Distressed Community : An Example of Community Informatics

Community Informatics (CI) is emerging as the framework for systematically approaching information systems from a “community” perspective. We discuss how a particular form of information technology, digital signage, was used to solve some of the problems faced by a city and a non-profit association in a distressed community. An analysis of the ICT implementation shows an example of how a CI perspective is essential to designing and implementing ICT systems for communities
