User-friendly information tool on urban and regional access regulations schemes : abstract and executive summary : final report
More and more European cities are introducing urban vehicle access regulations (UVARs) of different kinds. These local access regulations serve policy objectives such as air quality, liveability, climate change and congestion reduction. The most common types of UVARs include Low Emission Zones, Parking Regulations, Congestion Charging Schemes, Limited Traffic Zones and Pedestrian Zones. Providing relevant and effective information regarding UVAR schemes to all road users is of utmost importance to ensure schemes are respected and publicly accepted. They also facilitate the organisation of access of goods and people into urban areas. Where UVARs are deployed, it is important that they allow for seamless and user-friendly travel across the single market, without leading to discrimination of non-resident drivers.
